GRECS Training Policies
We are dedicated to providing the highest quality experience for child care providers seeking assistance and training that enhances the quality of care for children in south Alabama. With the support of our funding partners, all GRECS training is offered at no cost to participants.
We appreciate your respect of our training policies and procedures. Training policies can be found below and during the online registration process. We look forward to providing an effective learning environment for all of our participants. Prerequisites and required technology, when applicable, will be communicated to participants prior to the training session, and will be clearly noted in the course description and the official training calendar.
- Training classes are for ADULT participants only. Children are not permitted at any training session.
- You must pre-register for training classes. Go online to www.grecs.org and create a student profile. You will need an email address and password of your choice. If you are unsure about whether you are registered to attend a session, contact us before coming to class! If you need assistance registering, please contact us at 251-473-1060.
- When your registration has been processed, you will receive a confirmation email listing the classes in which you have been registered. Bring the confirmation email to class with you. If you do not receive a confirmation email, please contact us before coming to class to ensure that you are registered!
- CANCELLATION POLICY: Please keep in mind that space is limited in all training classes. For this reason, we ask that cancellations be made by 12:00 noon the day before the training session.
- Learning events will be cancelled and/or rescheduled when adverse weather conditions and/or security advisories are identified prior to/or during events at the discretion of the instructor with approval of Gulf Regional Early Childhood Services or other designated senior staff. An email will be sent out to all registered participants.
- GRECS issues a Training Attendance Verification (TAV) at the end of the training. The TAV includes all pertinent training session information – including the date, time and location; DHR, Alabama Pathways, and Child Development Associate (CDA) categories; a summary description and learning objectives; targeted age group for the session; and the appropriate training level. The TAV verifies your attendance at the training session, but does not indicate the number of CEUs that you may/may not be awarded.
- Each training is reviewed to determine eligibility for Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Sessions that offer CEUs have met rigorous IACET standards through a formal evaluation process. CEU-approved trainings are identified in the training calendar and in the course descriptions.
- Students are required to actively participate in class: To receive full clock hours and CEU credit, students must attend the entire training and actively participate in all learning activities. Requirements include completion of both pre- and post-assessments (used to evaluate learning outcomes), as well as submission of a training evaluation. CEUs will not be awarded to participants who miss more than 15% of the training, do not actively participate, or do not successfully complete the post-assessment with a minimum score of 70%. Participants will receive an email notification confirming whether CEU requirements have been met.
- If you have questions about your class performance you are encouraged to talk to the class instructor. Please inform the instructor of any special needs or concerns regarding your performance.
- Your attendance and participation in GRECS training sessions are automatically tracked in our student database and added to your transcript. You can print a transcript of your training from your student profile.
- Transcripts are only generated at the request of the student. GRECS does not release your information, including training record, without your written consent.
