Apply for Head Start ProgramsEarly Head Start services are available to pregnant women and infants up to age three. Head Start services are available to children up to 5 years of age. Programs available in Mobile, Baldwin, Clarke and Escambia Counties. If your child meets eligibility requirements, he/she will be placed on the waiting list until he/she is accepted into the Early Head Start/Head Start Program.
How To Apply for Head Start Services
To expedite the application process, you may want to have the items listed to the right accompanying your application in order to determine eligibility.
Eligibility is determined by trained GRECS staff members. Your family may be eligible for Head Start and/or Early Head Start services if your family’s income is determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. Families with circumstances such as experiencing homelessness, children in foster care, or receiving TANF, SNAP or SSI may also qualify for services.
For online applications, please make sure to select the correct online application based upon the center of your choice. Links to complete the application online or download a print copy of the application for enrollment in Head Start/Early Head Start are both available below. Once your application and all necessary supporting documentation is processed, you will receive verification that your child(ren) has been placed on the waiting list. When a slot become available, someone from GRECS will contact you by phone/email to schedule an intake appointment.

Proof of Family’s income (year to date recent check stub), Income tax form 1040, W-2 form, written statement from employer, or third-party letter

Child’s Birth Certificate

Proper documentation of Child’s Disability Services (IFSP/IEP) or Foster Care Award Letter

Medical Insurance card (Medicaid, ALL Kids, Tri-care BCBS) etc.

Verification of TANF, SSI, WIC, SNAP or Child Care South Subsidy (if applicable)

Identification of Primary Adult(s) – Picture ID
